Jessica's Thoughts~Eva Lillian~Designer Maternity & Nursing Clothing Boutique

Our customers are strangely intrigued by my life, like I'm some kind of celebrity or something. Doo-doo-Doo-doo Doo-doo-Doo-doo (Twilight Zone music). So, by popular demand, I've created my own blog off of the About Us page of the site, to chronicle the periodic happenings at the Hudson Household. Enjoy!

What is going on in the world today!?

Why do people do horrible things? I just don't understand it? Whay are people so closed minded and zealotous? It's beyond my comprehension.

You know, I read something about my generation. Actually, it was generation Y and technically I'm an Xer by a couple of years, but the point is thus: People of this generation are the most open minded, team-oriented, and almost the largest group we've seen in history. The Baby Boomers were a slightly larger group, but these are the children of those, I guess. And where the baby boomers were all about themselves and money, this generation is about the team, the greater good, the environment, humanity, etc. Best of all they are the most tolerant. And so I think, maybe the whole gay marriage thing being a non-issue for me is a generational thing...?

I mean, it wasn't that long ago that some wanted to outlaw mixed marriages. A generation later, I, a white woman, am married to a black man. Our tolerance has risen, due to exposure. Exposure leads to normalcy. Generations past were not exposed to mixed marriages, but we are so they ain't no thang. Generations past weren't exposed to gay anything. We have our Will and Grace and so on and I'm hoping with all my heart that by the time my children are grown, not only will being gay be nothing, but being "different" altogether will be nothing.

Jay and I are very careful about what we say around the kids (or even not around them) so they know that they will always be loved, no matter who they turn out to be. Every human deserves as much from our fellow man.

This was all prompted by an article in our paper today. Aparently a local church, widely known to be zealotous and "cultish" has done something so abominable that I was moved to write a letter to the editor. They advertised a House of Horrors in the local What's Happening This Month-type newspaper. The ad said those under 11 might want to have an adult with them. After paying their money and going inside the unwitting spectators were subjected to extremely graphic depictions of date rape, suicide, abortion (graphic props and the teenage girl screaming that she'd made a terrible mistake), sodomistic sexual favors for drugs, a gay couple being married by Satan himself, and other things no one under 17 should even be exposed to, much less blindsided by. It is absolutely disgusting that anyone would trick people into being beaten over the head with their twisted views on what probably half of this country experiences every day. And it saddens me beyond belief that there are people out there who would even be so intolerant.

Some people say that things like 9/11 make them sad to have brought children into such a world. I say it is things like this. Intolerance and hate will be humanity's downfall...
