"Raise funny people" -- that's
the philosophy behind Wry Baby,
a San Francisco-based company
that sells witty clothing and
accessories for infants.
Sure, parenting should be taken
seriously. But kids are funny.
So why not get a few harmless
laughs at your little one's
expense while he or she is still
young (and far less likely to
talk back)? In a few years, your
adoring offspring could be
snickering (or rolling eyes)
about your musical tastes and
clothing ensembles.
Wry Baby founders Kelly and
David Sopp launched the
collection in 2000 after the
birth of their first child. They
noticed that the children's
clothing market lacked a sense
of humor.
"Back then, all you could find
were clothes with fire engines
or dopey-eyed teddy bears. I
just wanted to dress my son in
something stylish and fun,"
David Sopp said.
Wry Baby's snapsuits ($24) are
printed with hilarious
one-liners like "I can't read,"
"I eat dirt," "I don't floss,"
"I'm not a boy" and "I might
barf." Accessories like bibs,
blankets and towels feature
tongue-in-cheek illustrated baby
care instructions. |
