Have we got a lot in the works for you!

As usual we are rapidly acquiring new maternity clothing designers and new styles.  Our newest designer maternity clothes come from Preggers 'N' Proud.  Their maternity shirts are just what you need in that 3rd to 4th month, when it looks like you've just been pounding the cookies a little too hard and you want to shout to the world "I'm pregnant, for goodness sake!"  These sweet and sassy maternity shirts take the words right out of your mouth.  And they continue to speak well for you the entire 9 months, too.

And in nursing clothing, this month we will finally be bringing you those fabulously sexy nursing bras we've been talking about.  I scoured the globe (literally, all over the world) to seek out the designer and I'm helping to design these sexy nursing bras myself. The first bra, panty, garter set will be available beginning this month (yes, we said nursing bra and matching garter!  Never thought we'd see the day!).  But do you want to know the best part? These bras will be available in plus sizes!  Yes, sexy full figured nursing bras.  Can you even imagine?  I wear a 36F, so I'm very empathetic to the "full-figured" woman.

Coming this Fall...

We have the most wonderful things planned for you this Fall!  Beginning with the addition of celebrity maternity designers Liz Lange and Bella Dahl.  But this is no Target Liz Lange.  This is suits, silks and cashmeres, Baby!  And, Bella Dahl has been creating fabulous maternity jeans exclusively for A Pea in the Pod for a few years, and now Eva Lillian has got them!  And believe us, these maternity jeans are pure genius!

Stay tuned for more additions and site updates...

Bed rest unnecessary?

Glamour was just a wealth of imformation this month.  According to one of their reporters, new research at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland found that women confined to bed were actually more likely to deliver low birth-weight babies and gain less healthy weight themselves.  And there's really very little evidence that bed rest lengthens gestation.  Furthermore, it often causes such negative effects as muscle atrophy, back pain and fatigue, stress and depression for pregnant women.  They recommend getting the opinion of a perinatologist (a maternal-fetal medicine specialist with training in high-risk pregnancies) if you are sentenced to bed rest.

As much as I said "Oh how I'd love just one day of bed rest!" during my second pregnancy, I never really meant it.  I've heard it's awful and I cross my fingers for all of you you never have to bear the pain and isolation (plus, you'd never get to show off all the cute maternity clothes you bought at our store! :) )

A new "Grapefruit Diet" for postpartum weightloss

According to a recent article in Glamour magazine, research has surfaced on a brand new-and-improved grapefruit diet.  Apparently, researchers at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego found that eating 1/2 of a grapefruit with each meal, even without cutting out any calories, caused participants to lose 3 times as much weight as those who did not eat the fruit.  It seems there is some compound in grapefruit that can lower levels of the hormone insulin and in turn encourage weight loss.  I read this yesterday and I went and bought a week's supply of Ruby Reds today!  I'm all about adding food to lose weight!

Chocolate is good for you, dang it!

While perhaps not exactly related to pregnancy, maternity clothes, or postpartum weightloss, I'm sure you can see the connection.  We've published a new article about the beauty of chocolate and how eating candy bars helps you live longer!  So all of you that eat at least 1 bag of M&Ms daily during the last half of your pregnancies (like I did the first time), can carry that article with you for months, to show all those busy-bodies that try to tell you "You know it's not really eating for two, don't you?"   Heck, I'd have it printed on a t shirt!

We've got another new maternity and nursing designer!

Yes, another one.  We've now added Mommy Chic by designer Angela Chew to our growing list of celebrity maternity design houses.  This company has had the distiguished pleasure of dressing celebrity moms such as Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Hurley, Uma Thurman, and Debra Messing, to name just a few.

Once available only at Saks and a handful of specailty maternity boutiques across the country, Mommy Chic is now available at Eva Lillian Maternity & Nursing Boutique!  I'm obviously very excited about this aquisition.  We're starting small, just taking on their nursing Pjs.  But I hope to add their full maternity clothing and nursing sleepwear lines this year.

We are blazing new trails here, ladies, and it's invigorating.  We're stretching ourselves and our designers, doing things that have never been done before, and bringing you things you've never seen before. I hope you appreciate my begging, er, I mean negotiating skills. ;)

First Entry in the Celebrity Scoop!

Sources say that the most recent addition to the celebrity baby boom is the newlywed Jennifer Lopez.  Despite the rumors, there has been no official announcement yet.  Apparently J Lo's feeling a bit burnt out from the publicity train she rode with the whole Bennifer fiasco. Sources say she has revealed to friends and family that she is expecting, though others close to her are trying to hedge around the subject.  I guess all we can do is wait and watch and see where she shops for maternity clothes.

Another reason to love my "curvey" figure

An article in the August issue of Elle explained a link between my vuluptuous bod and the way I can get pregnant just looking at my husband (well, aside from the obvious reason that I have a vuluptuous bod and he's steriotypically black in his... ahem... appreciation of it).

Apparently, women with large breasts and wide "childbearin'" hips have up to 37% more estrogen in their bodies.  And higher estrogen has been linked with higher rates of fertility.

As the article said, "Hey, no one said life was fair."

Welcome to our Blog!

We've set up a blog to tell you of the periodic happenings at Eva Lillian Maternity & Nursing Boutique. We'll post copies of our newsletter content (sans coupons. You have to give us the goods to get the goods), photos of company events and employees' kids, and our thoughts from time to time. Basically anything that may be of even mild interest to our customers. So sit back and enjoy, especially all the nursing mothers that have been placing orders in the middle of the night! Know that 1.I've been there, 2.it doesn't last forever, and 3.you won't believe it when I say it, but it's true, someday you'll miss that alone time cuddled up in the dark, just you and that beautiful little baby that you'll never ever have back again. Ok, I'm starting to tear up...
