 Our side bolster offers nearly 5 feet of roll off protection for your baby. A concern parents have with bed sharing. No pushing your bed against a wall or using side rails (practices which have been shown to be dangerous). No need for bulky pillows along the bedside, taking up valuable sleeping space, no worrys about pillows falling off of the bed allowing baby to fall to the floor, or worrys about pillows covering baby's face during sleep.  If you share your bed with more than one child our sleeper is a must. Mama and baby can sleep safely on our bed top sleeper and the older child can sleep on the other side of mom.

Our bolster easily detaches and can then be used as a pregnancy body pillow , giving the mother-to-be a great night sleep! Our extra large sleeping pad is made of 3  thick, luxurious layers of 100% organic cotton flannel , giving mom and baby a super soft, super absorbent sleeping surface. Our pad absorbs milk leaked from breasts during night time sleep and night time nursings, as well as messes from baby, making sleep time more comfortable, while protecting your sheets and mattress at the same time.

How big is the pad? The pad is generously sized. It is approximately 36 inches wide by 58 inches long. It is sized to be large enough for a parent and a child. No seams to lay on. The pad is made from 3 layers of soft, thick, 8 oz organic cotton flannel for absorbing leaking breast milk and baby spills. The pad is also great for night time diaper changes. We also use organic cotton thread.
How does the pad remove from the pillow/bolster?
The pad is attached to the bolster with super durable nylon snaps. They easily snap and unsnap so washing your pad is a cinch. The pad also easily detaches so you can use the bolster as a pregnancy body pillow. The pillow is stuffed with nearly 5 pounds of soft hypoallergenic recycled polyfiber.
What materials are used to make the Family Bed and how do I care for my Humanity Family Bed?
Our pad and pillow/bolster are made from the highest quality organic cotton flannel. You'll love how soft and absorbant this fabric is. Our pillows are stuffed with eco friendly poly fill made from recycled water bottles. It is non toxic, hypoallergenic and does not off-gas. If you would prefer organic cotton or wool as a filling please contact us directly. There is an extra cost for these fillings. Our bolster is machine washable in cold water, just be sure to wash it in a  large washer without a center post. It can be machine dried on low heat. The pad can be washed with your regular laundry in cold water and dried om low heat, to prevent shrinkage. You can also hang your Humanity Family Bed® to dry.
Does the pad move or shift while in use, and can the bolster cover my baby?
The weight of the product itself keeps the pad in place. The added weight of Mother and child assures the pad will not move. Much like a securely attached bottom sheet on a bed. Plus, our fabric is made of a non slick flannel, so it doesn't move or shift . Our bolster, which is nearly 5 feet long and filled with roughly 5 pounds of fill, can't be pulled over on baby , and if baby is pushed or scoots toward the pillow the seemless design doesn't allow a crevice to form obstructing baby's breathing space. Bed side rails or pillow systems don't have our patented seamless design for a crevice free sleep area.
How did the Humanity Family Bed come to be?
During the pregnancy of our 4th child, we decided we were going to solve our co-sleeping dilemmas. We loved sleeping next to our children, but worried about them falling from our bed . Pillows were cumbersome along the bed edge, and we were worried they would cover our baby's face. As a breastfeeding mom, I also wanted to address the issue of night time leaks and messes from baby at night. Nothing worse than waking up in a puddle of breast milk, or baby spitting up and making the sheets cold and wet. We eventually came up with our patented bolster and pad design. The bolster doubles as a pregnancy body pillow and roll off protector for baby, and the soft, absorbent pad is the perfect sleep surface for mom and baby and it absorbs night time leaks. We are currently using our Humanity Family Bed with our 4th & 5th babies and love it more than ever. Our infant sleeps on the pad with me and our toddler sleeps between Mom & Dad. Unlike bedside co-sleepers that distance you from your baby, and only last a few months, our bed top co-sleeper will be with you for years. It's an investment that will last.
